Butter Cake with Sugar Creations

Butter Cake with Sugar Paste Creations

It’s rare if the activities of kids aged 4-6 don’t bring about a big laugh…and I must add, it would be rare if they don’t stress you too…but that’s the fun in growing with kids.

I say growing, because it is truly an experience to be among kids for a while, listen to them, interact, understand them, be part of their activity…

Cooking with kids is always a fun…imagine 24 of them.

They were given aprons / caps and looked all dressed for the occasion…

initially a little quite, then start sharing their knowledge  – some which were taught to them by their mom’s a night before, eg- my mummy makes the best ice creams…its with strawberry…

Oops – it could be true…

…their impulse to touch chocolates…is contagious…

Then comes the state of – what are we doing today…??

Fun gets doubled up when I try to get all of them to focus on what instructions I have to give…

A kid asked – Chef, why do I have to wear a cap…? Master Chef on TV, doesn’t have caps

Another – Can I take this home, after I finish…?

There is nothing called – “…am I asking a silly question…”

a difference between adults cooking classes and kids.

Going back a few days – One of our chefs came and said, my sister is celebrating her kid’s birthday…she wanted to have a cake which is like this – I was shown the picture…

And then a couple of days later she came over with her husband and the baby…they showed me – the picture from one of Martha Stewart collections…

Martha, you have very cool stuff, be it cakes, table arrangments…and a lot more…I love window browsing your creations…I am inspired…and am sure so many around the globe…thankyou.

Mummy’s being the best “organizers and chefs”, I was not surprised to see the amount of planning she had and all the small details, she sared with me for the birthday… mom’s will always be mom’s…they are the best.

Making this cake was simpler, but to get a similar one made by kids was a challenge I thought is worth a try…

Back to the baking event – Few animals looked different, some where spot-on…the popular ones were snakes, elephants and monkeys…

The icings were decent and few of them knew how to hold a palette knife – that deserves a pat on the back…

Over all a great show by the kids, amazing energy & enthusiasm – it lasted 1.5 hrs, every minute was amazing fun…

Thinking of doing another one with Christmas goodies ‘only for kids’…

As always – Kids are fun, they inspire and they bring about the energy to do more…

Enjoy.
